YOU ARE ANOINTED - Joel Osteen 5/11/14

Following are my notes from the message delivered by Pastor Joel Osteen at Lakewood Church on 5/11/14 at the 8:30 am service:

                                                                          Judges 5:7
YOU ARE ANOINTED
We don’t have to do everything on our own.
We don’t have to do everything in our own strength.
God placed an anointing on us.
You can accomplish dreams even though in the natural you didn’t have the talent, etc.
Isaiah said because of the anointing the yoke will be destroyed.
[Isaiah 10:27]
You may feel stuck in the natural.
The anointing can break any yoke.
It’s stronger than any addiction.
You may not be able in your own strength, you own mind.
God put this amazing power in you.
The anointing doesn’t do any good if you go around thinking you can’t do anything.
You’re giving away your power.
The anointing is like gasoline to a car.
If you don’t put gas in the car it won’t do any good.
You’re made in the image of almighty God.
You have what you need to overcome challenges.
The anointing is activated where there’s faith.
Turn it around and declare I am anointed, I am well able.
The attitude of faith puts fuel in your car.
That’s when situations will turn around.
You may be around people who are hard to get along with.
Don’t go around saying I can’t handle these people.
That’s draining your fuel.
Your car won’t run properly.
Realize you’re anointed to deal with those difficult people.
Declare I am going to enjoy my job, etc
God will fight your battles, and move the wrong people out of the way.
Maybe you’re raising a difficult child.
God equipped and empowered you for every situation.
Quit talking about how hard it is.
Maybe it’s an unexpected illness.
Have a new perspective.
That sickness is not a surprise to God.
God already anointed you.
You have the strength you need.
Say “The anointing on my life is breaking every yoke”.
It’s greater than cancer, depression, etc.
All day say “I am anointed, equipped, and well able”.
When David was a teen Samuel came to his house and anointed him to be king.
But they sent David back to the shepherd’s field.
Even though he was anointed as a king.
We all have a king’s anointing.
Not to sit on a throne, but to rule and reign and leave a mark.
On the way to your destiny there will be times of testing.
Times when it doesn’t look like it’s going to change.
God has spoken it over me.
All the odds may be against me but the anointing is on my life.
Don’t get discouraged because it’s not happening on your time table.
Don’t think you don’t have the skill.
The anointing will make up for what you don’t have.
You can go further than people with no talent.
The anointing will help you accomplish things you can’t do on your own.
Deborah from Judges was a mother.
Back then women didn’t have leadership roles.
You’re not “just” anything.
You’re a child of the Most High God.
God has put something on you that supersedes all that.
Education is good.
Improve and develop your skills – that’s good too.
But you’re not limited to what you can do.
To reach your highest potential you need the anointing.
The anointing takes you where you could not go on your own.
Deborah was living in a city full of violence.
People were being attacked on the roads.
But God put in Deborah’s heart a dream to do something about it.
She understood God had put something on her that would cause her to succeed.
She took a step of faith and before long order was restored.
How could this mother affect the whole city?
It was the anointing on her life.
Quit making excuses as to what you can’t do.
I’m just a ___
This mother changed her whole city.
Joel can tell you first hand he doesn’t have the most education, talent, or experience, but he does have the anointing. (and so do you)
Every thought told him he couldn’t minister.
He told himself “Joel you are anointed, well-able, called for such a time as this”.
You’re the one for the job.
You’ve got what it takes.
You’re talented enough.
You and God are a majority.
Take steps of faith.
If you’ll do what you can God will do what you can’t.
Don’t settle for mediocrity when you were created for greatness.
[Pastor Joel overcome]
You have a king’s anointing.
You may be in the shepherd’s field right now but you’ve got to talk to yourself.
I’m stepping into my anointing.
David never forgot he had a king’s anointing.
My time is coming.
I will make a difference with my life.
God sees what you’re doing.
Every day you live in faith you’re one day closer to your destiny.
God knows when the blessing is too large for you to carry right now.
You’ve got to be matured.
In due season you will reap if you don’t give up.
You haven’t seen anything yet.
Now is your time.
You’re about to do what you were created to do.
The disappointments in the past were all getting you ready for this time.
Now you’re prepared for a new level.
You’ll see the exceeding greatness of God’s goodness.
King Saul said send me David whose with the sheep; I need him in the palace.
You may feel like you’re with the sheep today.
Don’t be discouraged; your time is coming.
Don’t get comfortable there; you have a king’s anointing.
You’re destined to do something great.
What God has spoken will come to pass.
A single mother was struggling to make ends meet.
She had no time for a social life.
Deep down she knew she had a queen’s anointing.
She knew she was made for more than struggle.
Poverty, lack, not having enough – that is a yoke.
Jesus came to give us an abundant life.
Psalm 23 says God anoints my head with oil.
Because I’m anointed, my cup runs over.
You’ll see God pour out blessings you cannot contain.
A neighboring couple the single mother barely knew invited her to dinner and bought her a new car.
Later she married an executive from a large company.
She’s not in the shepherd’s field anymore.
The same God that increased her can increase you.
The anointing will put you at the right place at the right time.
David went to the palace for a temporary assignment; but he was so good they kept him.
There may not be room for promotion that you can see at your job.
But God can create a position for you.
Some have been faithful in the shepherd’s fields.
Now you’re coming into your due season.
What God has spoken over your life will come to pass.
Years later Saul was killed in battle.
The kingdom was divided into Judah and Hebron.
The men of Judah came and anointed David. [2 Samuel 2]
David brought the kingdoms together.
Later Hebron anointed him also.
David could’ve said I’ve already been anointed.
This is not necessary.
He understood the power of a fresh anointing.
You can’t win today’s battles with yesterday’s anointing.
Ask God for a fresh anointing.
When you ask God will bring freshness into your life.
Stir up the anointing. [2 Timothy 1:6]
God I need a fresh anointing on my marriage, career, mind, thoughts, etc.
When you humble yourself and say God I can’t do this on my own you’re showing your dependence on God.
You’ll accomplish dreams you can’t on your own.
Whenever you take on a new task ask for a fresh anointing.
Maybe you’re facing a challenge today.
Instead of complaining ask God for a fresh anointing.
It’s the anointing that breaks the yokes.
You’ll go where you’ve never been.
You’ll see situations turn around.
You’ll step into the fullness of your destiny.
Don’t you dare settle for mediocrity.
You’ll make it to your throne.
Overcome the obstacles and become everything God created you to be.
