Tuesday there was a report on the television news about a fire in Washington, Texas. A truck and everything in it burned up - everything except for a bible. The bible was in a cardboard box; and the box burned up, but somehow the bible managed to "survive" the fire. I thought that was so amazing, so I looked for more information on the internet. I couldn't find the story about the truck in Washington, Texas; but I did discover there were many instances of bibles miraculously coming out of fires unscathed. Following are just a few.

Pastor John and his wife Debbie Watson watched their home burn to the ground. John called what happened “divine intervention.” He said, “The
table that the Bible was resting on was destroyed, but the Bible wasn’t
even singed. Some other religious books that survived the fire were
located in different areas of our home, and the other books surrounding
them were burned,” he added.
In addition, the couple’s parrot and pet dog also escaped from the house unharmed. “That’s the most important thing, that our family and pets are all safe,” John said. The macaw cried "Help" repeatedly until a neighbor heard and let the pets out before they could be harmed. Wow! God's hand was all over that.

Century Old Bible Survives Devastating Fire at San Pedro Elks Lodge
April 15, 2014 - SAN PEDRO, California. --
A fast-moving fire caused extensive damage when it burned through the Elks Lodge in San Pedro on April 15, 2014. The fire was so intense that more than 100 firefighters were called to the scene. A Bible that was more than 100 years old was among the items saved from the lodge room.
“This bible has been with this lodge for over 109 years.”said Exalted Ruler

Bible Survives Fire That Destroyed Jenks Family's Home
January 22, 2013 - JENKS, Oklahoma. --
Lauren Burns and her family lived at the home in Jenks until a fire started around 7 p.m. on December 14, and burned until about 3
a.m. Little was left of the home except for ashes. Demolition workers, who were clearing the lot after the fire, found
something buried in the ashes that appeared to be untouched by the fire. It was the family Bible. The bible was found amidst the debris; appearing so intact and untouched it looked as if someone had placed it there after the fire.
"Someone was watching over us. Someone was trying to prove a point that we are going to be okay," Burns said.
No one was injured in the fire.

Rwanda: Bible survives fire unscathed at children’s home
December 5, 2013 - KIGALI, Rwanda. --
Hope For Life Ministry operates a home for street boys in Kigali, Rwanda
focused on holistic and long-term care. On November 22nd, a fire caused
by a faulty voltage regulator completely destroyed one of the bedrooms
in the home and damaged a couple other rooms, but miraculously, two
objects emerged intact. Bunk beds and other furniture, clothing, and all their school
materials were destroyed. There were only two things that made it out of
the bedroom; one was a Bible and the other was a math book. When the
Bible was discovered, the boys turned to each other and said, “How did
this Bible survive?”
Prompted by the Spirit, they began singing “there is power in the
name of Jesus!” It was a powerful moment that will not be forgotten by
the boys. “They thought God protected his Word,” notes
Hilliary Anderson, co-founder of Hope for Life.

The Untouchable Word
Mar 3, 2012- JACKSONVILLE, Florida. --
A fire ripped through the sanctuary at the New Berlin Road Church, and destroyed much of the inside on Thursday. But there was one thing the flames did not touch. A single Bible was untouched in the center of the sanctuary, opened to the page Pastor Meadows left it on. "You can read it perfectly. But everything else around it is burning, melted, scorched," he said.

Miracle bible survives fire
Jul 24, 2003 - GREEN COVE SPRINGS, FL --
A logging truck in Green Cove Springs was hit
by lightning. It caught on fire and everything inside was destroyed
except for one thing -- a bible on the dashboard.
The leather cover burned, the edges of the pages scorched but the
burning stopped right where the words began. The owner says it's a
miracle and a sign God is watching over her family.

July 16, 2009 - LINDALE, Georgia. --
Temperatures were so hot that fire fighters were concerned about the safety
of their fire trucks. Thousands of shells of exploding ammunition
gutted an old Historic home in Lindale, Georgia. Through all of the heat and fire that left the structure in ruins,
Brannon was able to dig out an old family Bible from the charred mess
that was miraculously undamaged. "Seeing that bible was completely
untouched, it just blows my mind," Brannon said.

Soft-spoken cleric, Rev. David Inung, is the general overseer of a
growing church, God’s Foundation, Spirit and Truth Church, located at
Olukosi area of Shasha, a Lagos suburb. The church had a bus which was used to transport members to and fro church. On one occasion, there was a spark that ignited a fire which completely engulfed the vehicle. When the fire finally stopped the vehicle was completely burnt; but behold - the bible was retrieved from the ruins unburnt and untouched by fire.

There are even more stories about bibles untouched by fire. It is so powerful that in these instances both the bible and the people who had the bibles survived. These are very encouraging reminders that God's Word is greater than natural circumstances and it will prevail. It also comforts us that God is with us in the fire, just as He was with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; who were thrown into the fiery furnace but came out unharmed.
