DON'T PLAY DEAD

I read a news article about a woman who was mauled by a bear in her own driveway. Beyond my shock and

sympathy for the victim, I noticed something in the article that inspired this message. 

Officials said it's a myth that playing dead is the best way to handle bear attacks. People who are attacked by black bears are encouraged to stand their ground and not back away or play dead. The misconception is bears won't eat dead animals, but the truth is they will. Experts say when faced with a black bear attack people should stand their ground, make noise, and try to make themselves appear as big as possible.


STAND YOUR GROUND. That resonated in my spirit. It's true that we are not to fight people, but we are to fight the evil spirit that comes against us. However we do experience spiritual attacks, and when we do, we are to stand our ground. To survive a bear attack you should make noise. When under spiritual attack speak God's Word out loud - just as Jesus did [Matthew 4:4,7,10]. To survive a bear attack try to make yourself look as big as possible. To survive a spiritual attack, magnify your God - who is indeed BIG and invincible [Psalm 34:3, Psalm 69:30, 2 Chron 20:22].

God's Beloved don't roll over and play dead when it comes to your life, your calling, your hopes, your dreams, or anything God has entrusted to you. Stand firm, and see the salvation of the LORD.

Heavenly Father,
When we come under spiritual attack remind us that we are never alone. Give us courage to stand our ground, knowing You are fighting for us. Strengthen us to do our part while trusting You to do Yours.
